It started with oscar
In 2020, our family welcomed a cat into our home for the first time.
His name Is Oscar.
Like most first-time cat owners, we were unprepared for what that actually meant. Not the responsibility — we had expected that. What we hadn't expected was the depth of it. The way he claimed every room as his own. The way he watched us with that ancient, unbothered certainty. The way he made it immediately, irrefutably clear that he was not a guest in our home.
He was the point of it.
A Question We Couldn't Stop Asking:
Once Oscar arrived, we started looking for products worthy of him. Toys that would engage a mind built for hunting. A bed that matched the dignity he clearly believed he deserved. A collar that felt like it meant something.
What we found instead was a market full of products designed to look cute on a shelf — not to honour the animal wearing them.
We kept asking the same question: why does everything made for pets feel like an afterthought?
The Answer Was 5,000 Years Old:
We are a family from Egypt, living in Ontario, Canada, and like many families, we spend a lot of time talking around the dinner table. It was during one of those conversations that someone mentioned ancient Egypt.
The Ancient Egyptians did not treat their animals as afterthoughts. They observed them. They studied them. They built an entire mythology around the qualities they saw — the grace of the cat, the loyalty of the dog, the precision of the falcon. They elevated animals to the level of the divine not out of superstition, but out of genuine reverence for what those animals represented.
That reverence felt right to us.
It felt like the answer to the question we had been asking.
Pet Glyph Was Born:
We founded Pet Glyph on a single belief: that the animals we share our lives with deserve more than average.
Not just better materials — though that matters. Not just better design — though that matters too. But products made with the understanding that a pet is not an accessory. They are a companion. A presence. A daily reminder that the world is larger and stranger and more wonderful than we sometimes remember.
Ancient Egyptians understood this. We carry that understanding forward.
Every product we make is designed to honour the animal wearing it or resting in it or playing with it. To feel worthy of them. To look like it belongs in a home that takes beauty seriously.
A Family Business. A Family Cat:
Pet Glyph is run by our family from Ontario, Canada. We are not a corporation. We are not a warehouse with a logo. We are a family that got a cat in 2020 and could not stop thinking about how to do right by him.
Oscar is still with us. He has strong opinions about everything — including, we suspect, our product development process. He has reviewed every prototype with the kind of forensic indifference only a cat can perform. We consider his approval non-negotiable.
We are building Pet Glyph slowly and carefully — because the brands we admire most are the ones that are never rushed. We would rather do this right than do it fast.
Thank you for being here at the beginning.
Our Values
Reverence over gimmick:
We draw on ancient Egyptian mythology because it is genuinely the oldest and most sophisticated tradition of human-animal reverence in recorded history — not because it looks good on a logo. Every reference we make is rooted in real history and real respect.
Quality over volume:
We would rather make three products that are extraordinary than thirty that are merely acceptable. The Royal Collection is small by design.
Honesty over hype:
We will never describe our products as life-changing, revolutionary, or game-changing. They are well-made things for animals you love. That is enough.
Family first:
Every decision at Pet Glyph is made by people who go home to a pet at the end of the day. That perspective never leaves the room.
Oscar, 2020 — Present
Chief Inspiration Officer. Reviewer of prototypes. Ignorer of deadlines.
Still the reason for all of this.
Ancient Wisdom. Modern Pets. Timeless Care.
